Chronic stress can interfere with the normal function of the body’s immune system. Many studies have proven that people who are stressed have an increased vulnerability to catching an illness and are more susceptible to allergic, autoimmune, or cardiovascular diseases. Doctors agree that during chronic stress the functions of the body that are nonessential to survival, such as the digestive and immune systems, shut down. Furthermore, feeling stressed often prompts people to respond in unhealthy ways such as smoking, drinking alcohol, eating poorly, or becoming physically inactive. This behavior further damages the body.

We are living in very challenging times. Sometimes life can seem terribly painful and unfair, yet somehow folks manage to struggle on, day after day, hoping and praying that things will soon get better. Many people resort to taking medications like Zanax to help them alleviate stress and anxiety, however, medication has side effects and it is very addicting.

We will all experience situations that cause us to become stressed and to feel anxious at some point in life. Unfortunately, stress and anxiety seem to have become a way of life for far too many people.

Every individual will have different reasons as to why a situation causes them to feel stress and anxiety. One of the main causes comes from feeling out of control of a situation. The good news is that you can be in control of the way you respond to a situation that would normally cause stress. We all have the ability to choose how we will respond to a situation. We have everything inside of us that we need to overcome stress and anxiety.
